Areola began his career in the youth ranks of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and made his professional debut for the club in 2013. He spent several seasons on loan at various clubs, including Lens, Bastia, Villarreal, Real Madrid, and Fulham FC, gaining valuable experience and showcasing his goalkeeping skills. During his time at Villarreal, he set a club record for the longest period without conceding a goal, remaining unbeaten for 620 minutes.

In 2022, Areola joined West Ham United players roster on a permanent basis after an initial loan spell. He has been a key player for the team, known for his shot-stopping ability and composure under pressure.
